Study + Work + Live
Programme Content
The Study + Work + Live programme is specifically designed for those students who hold a NZ Student Visa and Variation of Condition (VoC - a part time work permit) who want to improve their English and find work in Wellington, NZ.
Programme Structure
A 24 week full time (25-20 hours per week) Academic English course, with job placement* and accommodation arrangement.
*If successful at the interview it may lead to a job opportunity, but this will depend on the student's English ability and previous work experience - please refer to job placement policy.
Entry Requirements
- Enrolment: Minimum 24 weeks full time
- English level: No requirement for English course, but to work must have an IELTS score of at least 5.0
- Student Visa + Variation of Condition (VoC)

Job Placement Details
- Visa: Variation of Condition (Voc) - to apply, need IELTS score of 5.0 or above
- NZ minimum wage: NZ$12.75 an hour before tax (estimate shared living cost: NZ$180`$250 per week)
- Job type: May include - cafe assistant, kitchen hand, orchard/farm/vineyard worker, housekeeping etc
- Job type will depend on experience and confidence with the English language
- Students are expected to take any available job recommended by the MFH International Career Advisor
- Are guaranteed 2 job interviews
- Work a maximum of 20 hours per week - work in the evenings or during weekends
- Work placement not commence till granted a VoC, and after the 4th week of study

- Workplace orientation and support
- Accommodation arrangement-
- MFH home-stay arrangement - the student is placed with a family in Wellington to experience the NZ lifestyle and culture OR
- Backpackers; Flatting; Renting
